Frequently Asked Questions about Waterproof Breathable Membrane (ePTFE)
Common questions about die-cutting and material selection for this product
What Protection Rating Can Waterproof Membrane Die-Cutting Achieve?
Using ePTFE waterproof breathable membrane, die-cut protection can reach IP54-IP67. Actual rating depends on membrane specs, bonding process, and enclosure seal design. IP67 can withstand 1m water immersion for 30 minutes while maintaining excellent breathability and acoustic performance.
Does acoustic mesh die-cutting affect breathability?
Proper die design and waste-removal direction keep breathability unaffected. Key points: high die sharpness to avoid deforming the mesh pores; waste removal along the mesh grain to prevent stretching; and post-cut breathability sampling to verify specs. Provide the breathability spec and we will tune the process accordingly.
What should be noted when die-cutting ePTFE membrane?
ePTFE film is soft and easily deformed. Notes: low-tension feeding to prevent stretching, dedicated dies (etching dies, 20-30 degree blade angle), moderate die-cutting speed, and gentle waste-removal angle. Operate in a cleanroom to prevent particles from clogging micro-pores and affecting breathability.
